Dr. Karen Crane
Dr. Karen Crane is a licensed psychologist who earned her Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology at the Florida Institute of Technology. At Florida Tech, Dr. Crane received specialized training in providing educational and psychological evaluations for children, teens, and adults. Dr. Crane has practiced in multiple settings, including college counseling centers, community mental health clinics, and psychiatric hospitals. During her years of practice, Dr. Crane has completed hundreds of comprehensive psychological evaluations and has also helped clients meet their personal and therapeutic goals.
Dr. Crane completed her APA accredited doctoral internship at Carolinas Medical Center where she worked with children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of presenting problems in an outpatient and a psychiatric inpatient setting. Dr. Crane continued her work at Carolinas Medical Center as a staff psychologist and received training in dialectical behavioral therapy to help adults and teens struggling to use coping skills in their daily lives. She provided comprehensive psychological assessment services, including ADHD assessments, testing to better understand emotional and behavioral disorders, as well as intellectual and achievement testing to improve academic functioning.
Dr. Crane has practiced privately in addition to her work at Carolinas Medical Center since 2005. Areas of professional interest include psychological assessment, ADHD, the treatment of anxiety disorders, and women’s mental health. In her work with clients, Dr. Crane emphasizes the importance of a collaborative relationship in developing and working on treatment goals. Dr. Crane tailors treatment to the needs of the individual to maximize healing and well-being. She utilizes cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, and interpersonal techniques.
