Why Couples Counseling?
Common relationship concerns that are addressed in therapy, include:
- Frequent arguments.
- A lack of emotional and physical intimacy and closeness.
- Specific concerns such as parenting as a team, money, and infidelity.
- Poor communication.
- A lack of trust.
The Assessment Phase
Couples start with an assessment process to provide personalized treatment, which includes:
- An initial intake/consultation appointment.
- Two individual appointments (one for you and one for your partner).
- Completion of questionnaires by both partners (The Gottman Relationship Checkup).
- A feedback session to review Dr. Crane’s findings and help create a treatment plan.
Therapeutic Interventions
Dr. Crane utilizes principles from the Gottman Method, which include increasing closeness and intimacy, addressing conflict respectively, and building a life of shared meaning together. The Gottman Method is a research based approach to improve relationships.
